Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Jadarian Price got past him. The Commanders do not have to explain a thing at slot 109. The bottom line is a respectable B.
Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Height reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
A small leak at the table, if not a fatal one. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 29th overall pick they get the heartbeat of the defense at a price that makes it sweeter. More want than need.
They jumped the gun on Romello Height, taking him earlier than his grade liked. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A quiet steal in slot 71: Keionte Scott for less than the market said. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They liked Connor Lew enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 74. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A running back of that caliber at No. 109 is the definition of value, full stop. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A tidy bit of business in the Round 4 slot, where De'Zhaun Stribling graded well above the range. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Zxavian Harris at pick 147 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They paid sticker price for Ephesians Prysock in the 187th pick, and that is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Circle this one: Aaron Anderson at Round 6, Pick 34 is a fall that decides a draft. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Thaddeus Dixon at pick No. 223 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
