The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Commanders watched Deion Burks slide 40 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end.
They are betting Lance proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The Byron Young deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
In the end it comes back to Mansoor Delane, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 13 they get a sticky cover corner. The biggest hole, addressed.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Bryce Lance well ahead of where he belonged. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Kamari Ramsey at pick No. 91 is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They read the board right and Connor Lew was the payoff at the Round 3 slot. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They barely believed it either: Deion Burks still on the board at the 126th pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Harold Perkins Jr. at the 147th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They did well to land Demond Claiborne in No. 165, just ahead of his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
No drama and no debate, Ephesians Prysock went about where he belonged in Round 6, Pick 6. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Jadon Canady at the 209th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Keyshaun Elliott at pick 223 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
