The Patriots clearly saw something nobody else did in Jordan James, taking him 58 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced.

The safety hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Briningstool value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
