You could see the war room lean forward. Connor Lew at the 127th overall pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.

That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. If Mesidor pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the wide receiver spot they never got to.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.27 · Pick 27 · Akheem Mesidor · DE-EDGE · rank 37
In slot 27 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare, reach and all.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Gennings Dunker · OG · rank 51
Gennings Dunker at pick 58 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R4.27 · Pick 127 · Connor Lew · C · rank 84
Connor Lew at Round 4, Pick 27 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R4.33 · Pick 133 · Michael Trigg · TE · rank 117
A slide stopped in the 133rd overall pick, with Michael Trigg worth more than the price. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R4.38 · Pick 138 · Kaleb Proctor · DL · rank 136
Kaleb Proctor in the 138th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R4.39 · Pick 139 · Will Lee III · CB · rank 126
Will Lee III at No. 139 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. A minor itch, scratched.
