You can draft well and still miss the point. The Giants did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to interior defensive lineman, which was the need that mattered most. They moved the roster forward and banked a B+ for it.
The Sinnott value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. The Brandon Graham pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 22 they get a ballhawk on the outside. A clean fit for the roster.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Payton Wilson. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
J.J. McCarthy at pick No. 47 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
Malachi Corley in the 53rd overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A tidy bit of business in pick 70, where Kingsley Suamataia graded well above the range. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They paid sticker price for Brenden Rice in Round 3, Pick 34, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Johnny Wilson at the 140th pick is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Ben Sinnott slid further than he should have, and No. 146 is lovely value for the tight end. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Value with a capital V on Justin Eboigbe in slot 160, a genuine coup. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A reach on Elijah Jones in No. 185; the board had better options right there. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They liked Jordan Whittington enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 237. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
