The Giants put a flag in the ground for Tyler Owens, 72 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit.
They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. The roster is better shaped than it was, with interior defensive lineman chief among the fixes.
They bet on numbers rather than a single high pick.
If Adonai Mitchell and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick-by-Pick
No edge and no loss on Adonai Mitchell in No. 30; it is a wash and a sensible one. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Christian Haynes well ahead of where he belonged. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Kiran Amegadjie at the Round 2 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They talked themselves into Mekhi Wingo at Round 3, Pick 15, and the board did not agree. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Isaac Guerendo this early at pick No. 107. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They reached into another round for Jordan Travis, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It fills a real need, too.
Tyler Owens at slot 183 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
