The Packers treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending No. 59 on Elijah Jones a full 57 spots early. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Guyton falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
Tyler Guyton at No. 41 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. It fills a real need, too.
Edgerrin Cooper at slot 55 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They reached into another round for Jaden Hicks, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Value said wait; Elijah Jones in the Round 2 slot says they were not listening. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Christian Mahogany in pick 88 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
No edge and no loss on MarShawn Lloyd in the 91st pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A wild overpay on Tip Reiman in the 126th overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Kalen King in the Round 5 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Luke McCaffrey slipping to the 158th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They reached a country mile for Austin Reed at Round 7, Pick 25, and the board is aghast. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
