The Patriots torched the value chart for Bryson Nesbit, taking him 63 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted.
On value alone, Klubnik makes the weekend a net positive. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 14 they get a double-digit-sack hope at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Malaki Starks in No. 34. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Isaiah Bond at the Round 2 slot. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Josh Simmons at the 44th pick is the proof. A need, and now a little less of one.
Tyleik Williams in Round 2, Pick 17 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They barely believed it either: Landon Jackson still on the board at pick 72. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Quinshon Judkins at pick No. 80 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The roster fit checks out.
A slide stopped in the Round 3 slot, with Luke Kandra worth more than the price. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Fernando Carmona at No. 86 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Danny Stutsman in slot 94 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Elic Ayomanor at the 108th overall pick is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
The board fumbled Maxwell Hairston all the way to the 113th pick, and they scooped it up. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They reached into another round for Bryson Nesbit, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Cade Klubnik at pick 218 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Jason Henderson at Round 7, Pick 6 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Marcus Mbow. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A straight-up fair deal on Terrance Ferguson at pick No. 256, value and slot in agreement. It fills a real need, too.
