The Packers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Bryce Lance fell into the Round 5 slot. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
The cost of the Kelly reach is exactly the players who went right after him. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.
They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
Somehow Olaivavega Ioane was still sitting there in No. 52, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Christen Miller in Round 3, Pick 20 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A straight-up fair deal on Will Lee III at the 120th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Dametrious Crownover in slot 153 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It fills a real need, too.
They robbed the room for Bryce Lance here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Riley Nowakowski at pick 201 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jack Kelly. A minor itch, scratched.
The board had Noah Whittington higher than pick No. 255, and the running back fell to them anyway. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
