The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Packers watched Bryce Lance slide 33 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.
They are betting Reiger proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.
The trade work was a quiet net positive. They chose more darts over a bigger single swing.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Lee Hunter at No. 59. A need, and now a little less of one.
They will replay Keionte Scott at the 84th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
The board fumbled Connor Lew all the way to Round 4, Pick 8, and they scooped it up. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They talked themselves into Mason Reiger at the Round 4 slot, and the board did not agree. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Steal is underselling it; Sam Roush at pick No. 121 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Trey Zuhn III in pick 123 is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A wide receiver of that caliber at slot 129 is the definition of value, full stop. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Charles Demmings slid further than he should have, and the 160th pick is lovely value for the cornerback. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Cameron Ball in pick No. 201 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Terion Stewart at the 236th overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Tyren Montgomery slipping to the 239th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
John Michael Gyllenborg at No. 246 is money in the bank, a tight end taken below his worth. The roster fit checks out.
A slide stopped in the Round 7 slot, with Xavier Nwankpa worth more than the price. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
