Thirty-one other rooms let Malachi Fields slide, and the Titans were the ones holding the card at the 123rd pick. Highway robbery. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 22 they get a three-down second-level presence, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
Olaivavega Ioane in slot 35 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Emmanuel McNeil-Warren at pick No. 55 is the proof. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
D'Angelo Ponds in the 66th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Steal is underselling it; Lee Hunter at the Round 3 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Jake Golday in No. 101 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
You do not let a wide receiver like Malachi Fields reach Round 4, Pick 23 and blink. They did not. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They robbed the room for Emmett Johnson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Julian Neal in slot 144 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, CJ Daniels in the 184th overall pick, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Value with a capital V on Febechi Nwaiwu in No. 194, a genuine coup. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Eric McAlister at the Round 7 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
