This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Malachi Fields, the No. 75 name on the board, stolen at pick 142. It lands right in the middle: a C, no more, no less.
The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up.
Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work. Offensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 22 they get a three-down second-level presence, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
Avieon Terrell at No. 35 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Chris Bell at pick No. 55. The roster fit checks out.
Taking Anthony Hill Jr. in the 66th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A slide stopped in slot 77, with LT Overton worth more than the price. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A top-tier interior defensive lineman at a bargain, Lee Hunter in pick 86, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
The board fumbled A.J. Haulcy all the way to the Round 4 slot, and they scooped it up. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Malachi Fields in the 142nd pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Good price on Eli Raridon in the Round 5 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They let Travis Burke come to them and pounced at the 184th pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Somehow Caleb Douglas was still sitting there in Round 6, Pick 13, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. It fills a real need, too.
Circle this one: Taylen Green at slot 225 is a fall that decides a draft. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
