When a board-topper like Sam Hecht slides to Round 5, Pick 5, you do not overthink it, and the Titans did not. Fine in stretches, shaky in others: a C.
They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. The Titans indulged a want in Kilgore while a need in linebacker stayed open.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through linebacker. They will need Kamara to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
It grades out a shrug today, with plenty of room to move either way.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 26 they get an island corner, outstanding value to boot. Need was not the driver here.
Nice patience on Kenyon Sadiq, who had no business lasting to the 35th overall pick. It fills a real need, too.
Circle this one: Kayden McDonald at the Round 2 slot is a fall that decides a draft. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Caleb Tiernan is a better player than the 66th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Jonah Coleman in slot 91 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Steal is underselling it; Elijah Sarratt at pick 101 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They barely believed it either: Ted Hurst still on the board at No. 105. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Jalon Kilgore at cornerback with linebacker open.
A conviction pick on Mikail Kamara at the 142nd overall pick that the board grades a round light. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Taking Genesis Smith in slot 144 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A offensive lineman of that caliber at Round 5, Pick 5 is the definition of value, full stop. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Somehow Demond Claiborne was still sitting there in No. 184, and they pounced on premier running back value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
The board had Domani Jackson higher than the Round 6 slot, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
They did well to land Taylen Green in the 192nd pick, just ahead of his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Kevin Coleman Jr. in pick No. 193 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The roster fit checks out.
Keagen Trost in pick 194 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Bobby Jamison-Travis slipping to the 225th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
