Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Titans were there to profit. Keionte Scott, the No. 61 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 101st pick. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
They are betting O'Neill proves the room right and everyone else wrong. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. They will answer for taking cornerback early while interior defensive lineman went begging.
They gave back a little on the phones for the right to move.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 12 they get a workhorse for the backfield, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
CJ Allen at the 48th pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Keith Abney II in the Round 3 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Circle this one: Germie Bernard at the 79th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Jake Golday at slot 92 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They bypassed pressing needs at interior defensive lineman to take Keionte Scott, a cornerback that was not the priority.
Steal is underselling it; Zakee Wheatley at pick 112 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A minor itch, scratched.
They did well to land J.C. Davis in Round 5, Pick 2, just ahead of his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
The board had Oscar Delp higher than the 144th pick, and the tight end fell to them anyway. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A straight-up fair deal on Jaeden Roberts at No. 152, value and slot in agreement. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Reggie Virgil slid further than he should have, and the 177th overall pick is lovely value for the wide receiver. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Bryce Boettcher at pick No. 180 is the proof. A need, and now a little less of one.
By-the-book stuff, Taylen Green at the Round 6 slot squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A offensive lineman of that caliber at pick 194 is the definition of value, full stop. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A wild overpay on Eric O'Neill in Round 7, Pick 9, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
