This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Jalon Kilgore, the No. 104 name on the board, stolen at pick No. 127. It nets out to a B+, which feels about right.
They are betting Josephs proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 31 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare, even if it was a touch early. A clean fit for the roster.
They robbed the room for Jalon Kilgore here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Bishop Fitzgerald in Round 4, Pick 33. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Fair-plus on Parker Brailsford, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A reach on Isaiah World in the 139th pick; the board had better options right there. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Zane Durant at pick No. 171 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Kevin Coleman Jr. is a better player than the 176th overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
J'Mari Taylor in pick 191 is fair value, right on his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and VJ Payne at the 210th pick is the proof. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
They jumped the gun on Fa'alili Fa'amoe, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
