The board owed the 49ers one, and it paid up: Keionte Scott, the No. 64 name on the board, sitting there at the Round 3 slot like a gift left on the doorstep. It does the job without flash, and the B+ reflects it.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through running back. Every board in the league had Casey lower, and that gap is the story.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
A wild overpay on Derrick Moore in the 48th pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Omar Cooper Jr. in No. 58 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
No drama and no debate, Kyle Louis went about where he belonged in the Round 3 slot. The roster fit checks out.
Keionte Scott at the 95th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They paid sticker price for Bishop Fitzgerald in Round 4, Pick 22, and that is fine. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Billy Schrauth in pick No. 127 lands just on the right side of the ledger. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Value with a capital V on Michael Trigg in pick 133, a genuine coup. It fills a real need, too.
They did well to land Parker Brailsford in slot 138, just ahead of his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Value said wait; Kage Casey in the Round 4 slot says they were not listening. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A slide stopped in pick No. 212, with VJ Payne worth more than the price. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
