San Francisco 49ers

Nobody dealt better than the 49ers this weekend: B.

Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The 49ers came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.

Reaching for Moore left real value on the table behind him. A whole weekend of picks and offensive lineman is somehow still a want.

The 49ers paired the rookies with proven help, Quenton Nelson leading the way. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.15 · Pick 47 · Derrick Moore · DE-EDGE · rank 68
Derrick Moore in slot 47 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Zachariah Branch · WR · rank 65
A straight-up fair deal on Zachariah Branch at the 58th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R4.27 · Pick 127 · Julian Neal · CB · rank 119
Julian Neal at pick No. 127 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R4.33 · Pick 133 · Jakobe Thomas · S · rank 140
No edge and no loss on Jakobe Thomas in pick 133; it is a wash and a sensible one. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R4.38 · Pick 138 · Kaytron Allen · RB · rank 148
They went early on Kaytron Allen in Round 4, Pick 38, and the value did not follow. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R4.39 · Pick 139 · DeMonte Capehart · DT · rank 138
By-the-book stuff, DeMonte Capehart at the Round 4 slot squarely in line with his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
