There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Packers started one anyway for Trevin Wallace, 65 picks ahead of schedule. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Kneeland.
Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 25 they get an anchor for the offensive line. A real need, handled.
They jumped the gun on DJ James, taking him earlier than his grade liked. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A straight-up fair deal on Payton Wilson at No. 58, value and slot in agreement. A minor itch, scratched.
Marshawn Kneeland slid further than he should have, and pick No. 88 is lovely value for the edge rusher. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
The board had cheaper options than Cole Bishop at the Round 3 slot, and it noticed. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Isaac Guerendo at the 126th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A real head-scratcher, Trevin Wallace in slot 169 is miles ahead of his ranking. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
They liked Garret Greenfield enough to skip the value, taking him in the 202nd overall pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Solomon Byrd. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
