You could see the war room lean forward. Domonique Orange at pick 120 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
Christen Miller in the Round 2 slot is fair value, right on his grade. The roster fit checks out.
They will replay Keionte Scott at Round 3, Pick 20 for years; that is how good the value is. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
The board fumbled Domonique Orange all the way to pick No. 120, and they scooped it up. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Kaytron Allen at No. 153 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Charles Demmings is a better player than pick 160 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Travis Burke in slot 201, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Thaddeus Dixon at the 236th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A tidy bit of business in the 255th pick, where John Michael Gyllenborg graded well above the range. It fills a real need, too.
