Call it belief, call it a gut call, but J'Mari Taylor at pick No. 149 is 46 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. The Muhammad value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. The 49ers paired the rookies with proven help, Myles Garrett leading the way.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 29 they get a true top target. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A real head-scratcher, Dani Dennis-Sutton in the 58th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Kyle Louis at slot 102 is the proof. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They liked Michael Trigg enough to skip the value, taking him in the 107th overall pick. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A straight-up fair deal on Brian Parker II at No. 109, value and slot in agreement. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Gracen Halton at pick 117 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Steal is underselling it; Malik Muhammad at the Round 4 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A minor itch, scratched.

They left a pile of value on the table to take Kevin Coleman Jr. this early at the 134th pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A reach on Dametrious Crownover in the 138th overall pick; the board had better options right there. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They took Jaeden Roberts at par in slot 146, which is nothing to complain about. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.

The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Taylen Green. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They reached into another round for Jimmy Rolder, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
