The board owed the Giants one, and it paid up: Patrick Paul, the No. 69 name on the board, sitting there at the 107th pick like a gift left on the doorstep. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
The Lee pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Interior defensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. They gave back a little on the phones for the right to move.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 10th overall pick they get a go-to option on the outside. The biggest hole, addressed.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Ennis Rakestraw Jr. at No. 47. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jaylen Wright. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They robbed the room for Patrick Paul here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Tykee Smith in pick 141 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Logan Lee at pick No. 183 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
