You can draft well and still miss the point. The Bears did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to edge rusher, which was the need that mattered most.

Ponds at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
