The weekend has a hole in the middle of it named edge rusher, a need the Bills walked right past. The bottom line is a respectable B.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Douglas. The cost of the Cleveland reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with linebacker chief among the fixes. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 26 they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
A clean, defensible pick in No. 91 with a little surplus value in Kyle Louis. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A reach on Kaleb Proctor in slot 126; the board had better options right there. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
No edge and no loss on Louis Moore in the 165th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A tidy little value on Kage Casey in pick 168, a step better than break-even. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They let Caleb Douglas come to them and pounced at the 182nd overall pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A premium they did not need to pay, Brandon Cleveland a notch or two before his time. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
