Thirty-one other rooms let Sam Hecht slide, and the Chargers were the ones holding the card at No. 123. Highway robbery.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. Interior defensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 22 with a little surplus value in Kayden McDonald. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Emmanuel Pregnon slipping to the 55th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It fills a real need, too.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Michael Taaffe in No. 86. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Sam Hecht in the 123rd overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They robbed the room for Zane Durant here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
