Every other box got a look, but quarterback did not. The Chiefs will head to camp with the same hole they walked in with.
They banked enough surplus on Sadiq to cover a lot of smaller sins. Reaching for Jacas left real value on the table behind him. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 9 they get a bendy edge with upside, even if it was a touch early. A clean fit for the roster.
In No. 29 they get a seam-stretching tight end, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
The board had cheaper options than Gabe Jacas at the 40th overall pick, and it noticed. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Mike Washington Jr. in the Round 3 slot is fair value, right on his grade. It fills a real need, too.
Nothing to complain about; Ja'Kobi Lane went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A conviction pick on Rayshaun Benny at slot 148 that the board grades a round light. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They did well to land Nate Boerkircher in pick No. 169, just ahead of his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Travis Burke. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They paid sticker price for David Gusta in pick No. 210, and that is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
