Nobody had Jaishawn Barham this high, and it is not close. The Commanders reached 45 spots to get him at the 71st overall pick.
That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Allen.
On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 7 they get a premier pass rusher at fair value.
They talked themselves into Jaishawn Barham at Round 3, Pick 7, and the board did not agree. A need, and now a little less of one.
No drama and no debate, Dametrious Crownover went about where he belonged in the 147th overall pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Cyrus Allen slid further than he should have, and pick 187 is lovely value for the wide receiver. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They reached a country mile for Jimmy Rolder at the Round 6 slot, and the board is aghast. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Bryson Eason at pick No. 223 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
