The Eagles went off the board in a big way for Andre Fuller, 66 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. The good and the questionable cancel out to a C+.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. However the rest shakes out, Durant at that price is a win they earned. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
It grades out a shrug today, with plenty of room to move either way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 23rd pick they get a plug-and-play piece up front, a steep price for the projection.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Max Klare well ahead of where he belonged. A need, and now a little less of one.
A wild overpay on Jaishawn Barham in the Round 3 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
De'Zhaun Stribling in Round 3, Pick 34 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Louis Moore. The roster fit checks out.
They talked themselves into Beau Stephens at the 137th overall pick, and the board did not agree. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Andre Fuller at the 178th overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Zane Durant is a better player than pick 197 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
