They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Anthony Lucas, 47 picks early at the 68th pick. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
The Sarratt pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 23 they get a problem off the edge, though they paid up to get him. The biggest hole, addressed.
They paid a round early for Derrick Moore in the 54th pick, more than the board wanted. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Anthony Lucas in No. 68 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Elijah Sarratt at slot 98 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A straight-up fair deal on Nicholas Singleton at the Round 4 slot, value and slot in agreement. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A big swing on Tyler Onyedim at pick No. 137, well ahead of any board in the building. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Tanner Koziol at slot 178 is the proof. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Domani Jackson slid further than he should have, and No. 197 is lovely value for the cornerback. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
