The weekend has a hole in the middle of it named edge rusher, a need the Giants walked right past. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Thieneman. The roster is better shaped than it was, with interior defensive lineman chief among the fixes.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 5 they get a blindside protector. Exactly the need they had to hit.
In pick 10 they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Dillon Thieneman at pick No. 37 is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
No edge and no loss on Brian Parker II in slot 105; it is a wash and a sensible one. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Eli Raridon in Round 5, Pick 5 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Ephesians Prysock at the 186th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
By-the-book stuff, Kobe Baynes at the Round 6 slot squarely in line with his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Cameron Ball in the 193rd overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
