The Jets spent real capital to be 88 picks early on Carson Beck, and the board is going to hold them to it.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. The Allen pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.
They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 2nd pick they get juice off the edge at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
In pick No. 16 they get a home-run threat at receiver. A real need, handled.
They talked themselves into Carson Beck at pick 33, and the board did not agree. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
CJ Allen slid further than he should have, and slot 44 is lovely value for the linebacker. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They let Devin Moore come to them and pounced at Round 4, Pick 3. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jakobe Thomas. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
By-the-book stuff, Aamil Wagner at slot 179 squarely in line with his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
Kaelon Black at the 228th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Jaren Kanak at pick No. 242 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
