After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Patriots committed. Jayden Daniels is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline.
The Sinnott pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
McGlothern falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 4 they get the face of the franchise at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
In the 27th pick they get a difference-maker at receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
Troy Fautanu at the 34th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A need, and now a little less of one.
Xavier Worthy at Round 3, Pick 4 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They reached into another round for Ben Sinnott, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It fills a real need, too.
Dylan Laube at slot 137 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Dwight McGlothern at No. 180 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Johnny Dixon at pick No. 193 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing JD Bertrand in No. 231. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
