The 49ers put a flag in the ground for Zane Durant, 43 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. Everette at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
For all the activity, offensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. The 49ers indulged a want in Lee III while a need in offensive lineman, wide receiver and other spots stayed open.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
Jadarian Price at slot 38 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 58, where A.J. Haulcy graded well above the range. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Daylen Everette at the 102nd overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Michael Trigg slid further than he should have, and pick 127 is lovely value for the tight end. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Of all the spots to shop, they chose cornerback. Will Lee III in Round 4, Pick 33 leaves offensive lineman, wide receiver and other spots for later.
A want over a need in the 138th pick: Jakobe Thomas adds a safety while offensive lineman, wide receiver and other spots keeps waiting.
A wild overpay on Zane Durant in the 139th overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
