The Titans torched the value chart for Isaac Smith, taking him 49 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted.
The Rodriguez pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with offensive lineman the one that mattered most.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
They paid sticker price for Jeremiyah Love in pick 4, and that is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Zion Young. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Jake Slaughter at Round 3, Pick 2 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Jacob Rodriguez in slot 101 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
No edge and no loss on Malik Benson in No. 142; it is a wash and a sensible one. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They paid a round early for Beau Stephens in pick No. 144, more than the board wanted. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Josh Cameron at the 184th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Keagen Trost slid further than he should have, and pick 194 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Isaac Smith at Round 7, Pick 9 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It adds depth where they could use a little.
