The 49ers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Nicholas Singleton fell into Round 4, Pick 33.
The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Iheanachor pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They left with offensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
Max Iheanachor at No. 27 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They paid a round early for LT Overton in the 58th pick, more than the board wanted. The roster fit checks out.
Circle this one: Jalen Farmer at the Round 4 slot is a fall that decides a draft. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They will replay Nicholas Singleton at pick No. 133 for years; that is how good the value is. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They read the board right and Will Lee III was the payoff at Round 4, Pick 38. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Justin Joly at pick 139 is money in the bank, a tight end taken below his worth. A need, and now a little less of one.
