This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Charles Demmings, the No. 150 name on the board, stolen at slot 168.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Proctor pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They left with linebacker solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 26 they get a true top target. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Kyle Louis in the 91st overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They paid up for Kaleb Proctor at the 126th pick when waiting would have done the job. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Louis Moore in slot 165 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A need, and now a little less of one.
Circle this one: Charles Demmings at the Round 5 slot is a fall that decides a draft. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They paid sticker price for Anez Cooper in pick 182, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Bryson Eason. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
