The Broncos spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Max Klare, the No. 76 name on the board, in the 108th pick. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. The Kelly pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. The roster is better shaped than it was, with linebacker chief among the fixes.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
Antonio Williams at Round 2, Pick 30 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Max Klare at slot 108 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 111 with a little surplus value in Darrell Jackson Jr.. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Albert Regis at the 170th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Eli Heidenreich in the 246th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The roster fit checks out.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Andre Fuller in No. 256. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Jack Kelly in pick 257 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
