The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Browns watched Aaron Anderson slide 26 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
The Coleman reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
On the needs board they went 7 of 9, with quarterback the one that mattered most.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 6th overall pick they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
In the 24th pick they get a plug-and-play piece up front. A real need, handled.
Brandon Cisse at slot 39 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Value said wait; Jonah Coleman in pick 70 says they were not listening. It fills a real need, too.
They talked themselves into Jude Bowry at the Round 4 slot, and the board did not agree. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Drew Allar in pick No. 146 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Nothing to complain about; Chris McClellan went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Aaron Anderson at Round 6, Pick 25 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Isaiah Nwokobia in Round 7, Pick 32 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
