Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Carson Beck at slot 43 is 78 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
That Slaughter pick is the receipt they will wave around later. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 11 they get a long-term starter on the line, even if it was a touch early.
Fair-plus on Dillon Thieneman, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A minor itch, scratched.
Carson Beck in pick No. 43 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Jacob Rodriguez in the 75th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They read the board right and Dontay Corleone was the payoff at the Round 3 slot. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Daylen Everette at Round 3, Pick 26 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They barely believed it either: Jake Slaughter still on the board at No. 94. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Michael Trigg at Round 4, Pick 30 is the proof. A need, and now a little less of one.
Rayshaun Benny at pick 151 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Kendrick Law at the Round 7 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Noah Whittington at the 238th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
