The Eagles clearly saw something nobody else did in Anthony Lucas, taking him 47 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
Branch falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up. They went 4 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 23 they get juice off the edge, reach and all. The biggest hole, addressed.
They went early on Romello Height in No. 54, and the value did not follow. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A big swing on Anthony Lucas at the Round 3 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They robbed the room for Zachariah Branch here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A tidy bit of business in Round 4, Pick 14, where Logan Jones graded well above the range. The roster fit checks out.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Tyler Onyedim this early at the 137th overall pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Ar'maj Reed-Adams at No. 178 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A need, and now a little less of one.
A quiet steal in the 197th pick: Dae'Quan Wright for less than the market said. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
