Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Falcons were there to profit. Keagen Trost, the No. 183 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 215th pick. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. They are betting Perkins Jr. proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with offensive lineman chief among the fixes.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
Fair-plus on Chris Bell, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
The board had Keionte Scott higher than Round 3, Pick 15, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A conviction pick on Harold Perkins Jr. at pick 122 that the board grades a round light. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Keagen Trost reach the Round 6 slot and blink. They did not. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Brandon Cleveland in the 231st overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
