Every other box got a look, but safety did not. The Giants will head to camp with the same hole they walked in with.
The Gusta pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Hecht.
They left with interior defensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 5th pick they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They paid sticker price for Omar Cooper Jr. in Round 2, Pick 5, and that is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A slide stopped in the Round 4 slot, with Sam Hecht worth more than the price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Oscar Delp in pick No. 145 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A need, and now a little less of one.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Bryce Boettcher at slot 186. A minor itch, scratched.
Kobe Baynes at No. 192 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Value said wait; David Gusta in pick 193 says they were not listening. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
