The Jaguars torched the value chart for Jack Pyburn, taking him 49 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
The Orange pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
They talked themselves into Dani Dennis-Sutton at Round 2, Pick 24, and the board did not agree. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They reached a country mile for Brenen Thompson at No. 81, and the board is aghast. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Markel Bell in pick 88 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
The board fumbled Domonique Orange all the way to pick No. 100, and they scooped it up. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Bud Clark at the Round 4 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Steal is underselling it; Hezekiah Masses at the 164th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A clean, defensible pick in No. 166 with a little surplus value in Marlin Klein. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They paid sticker price for Pat Coogan in Round 6, Pick 22, and that is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They went early on Lander Barton in the 233rd pick, and the value did not follow. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A big swing on Jack Pyburn at pick No. 240, well ahead of any board in the building. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
No edge and no loss on Jaydn Ott in slot 245; it is a wash and a sensible one. A need, and now a little less of one.
