There is reaching, and then there is Vincent Anthony Jr. at Round 5, Pick 33. The Ravens jumped the board by 68 and dared it to prove them wrong. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
On value alone, Dunker makes the weekend a net positive. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 14 they get a go-to option on the outside. A real need, handled.
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Joshua Josephs. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They robbed the room for Gennings Dunker here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
J.C. Davis at the 115th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, George Gumbs Jr. well ahead of where he belonged. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Zxavian Harris in the Round 5 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Vincent Anthony Jr. at pick 173 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It fills a real need, too.
By-the-book stuff, Travis Burke at No. 174 squarely in line with his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They reached a country mile for Eric O'Neill at pick No. 211, and the board is aghast. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They barely believed it either: Latrell McCutchin Sr. still on the board at the Round 7 slot. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
No edge and no loss on Terion Stewart in the 253rd pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
