The rest of the league will want that one back. Devin Moore tumbling to the Steelers in No. 121 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
Reaching for Nussmeier left real value on the table behind him. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 21 they get an anchor for the offensive line. Need was not the driver here.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Garrett Nussmeier in the 53rd pick, miles early. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Malachi Fields in pick No. 76 is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Josiah Trotter at slot 85 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The roster fit checks out.
The board fumbled Kamari Ramsey all the way to No. 99, and they scooped it up. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They barely believed it either: Devin Moore still on the board at pick 121. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Jack Endries slid further than he should have, and the 135th pick is lovely value for the tight end. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A quiet steal in the 161st overall pick: Skyler Gill-Howard for less than the market said. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They read the board right and Cole Payton was the payoff at Round 6, Pick 35. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
By-the-book stuff, Kaelon Black at the Round 7 slot squarely in line with his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Nice patience on Jadon Canady, who had no business lasting to Round 7, Pick 14. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They paid sticker price for Dane Key in No. 237, and that is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
