The Cardinals clearly saw something nobody else did in Kevin Jennings, taking him 78 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. No fireworks, but a solid B+.
That is a linebacker worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 19th pick they get a wrecking ball inside, and a steal at that.
A offensive lineman of that caliber at slot 62 is the definition of value, full stop. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They talked themselves into Blake Miller at No. 82, and the board did not agree. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Tez Johnson at the Round 3 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A tidy bit of business in the 117th overall pick, where Tory Horton graded well above the range. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Steal is underselling it; Barrett Carter at pick 124 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Somehow Jake Majors was still sitting there in Round 4, Pick 31, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Cobee Bryant at pick 152 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Kevin Jennings this early at the 159th overall pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They liked Shemar Turner enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 160. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
