There is conviction, and then there is this. The Bears took Keyron Crawford a full 41 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. However the rest shakes out, Nwokobia at that price is a win they earned.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 25 they get juice off the edge, even if it was a touch early. The biggest hole, addressed.
They paid up for Chase Bisontis at slot 57 when waiting would have done the job. The roster fit checks out.
Derrick Moore in the 60th pick is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A big swing on Keyron Crawford at the Round 3 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Parker Brailsford in pick No. 129 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Andre Fuller in pick 239 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Isaiah Nwokobia in slot 241. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
