They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Ty Simpson is the Browns' quarterback, full stop. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
Schrauth has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 6 they get a long-term answer under center, reach and all. The biggest hole, addressed.
In the 24th pick they get a go-to option on the outside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Chris Johnson in the 39th overall pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Billy Schrauth at the Round 3 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A need, and now a little less of one.
A premium they did not need to pay, Mike Washington Jr. a notch or two before his time. The roster fit checks out.
They paid sticker price for Isaiah World in Round 5, Pick 1, and that is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Malik Benson in pick No. 146 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Tim Keenan III in slot 149 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Good price on Sawyer Robertson in No. 206, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They reached into another round for Connor Tollison, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
