The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Kendall Milton, No. 221, roughly 21 picks past where he belonged.
The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Eboigbe has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 32nd overall pick they get a cornerstone up front. The biggest hole, addressed.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, DJ James at the 64th pick. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Brenden Rice at No. 95 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Value said wait; Justin Eboigbe in Round 4, Pick 32 says they were not listening. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Walter Rouse. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Cornelius Johnson in the Round 5 slot is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Kendall Milton at pick No. 221 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
