The rest of the league will want that one back. Kendall Milton tumbling to the Chiefs in the 221st overall pick is a gift they did not have to think twice about. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain. They are betting Eboigbe proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 32 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. The biggest hole, addressed.
DJ James at the 64th pick is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
By-the-book stuff, Brenden Rice at the Round 3 slot squarely in line with his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A wild overpay on Justin Eboigbe in Round 4, Pick 32, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The roster fit checks out.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Walter Rouse. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A premium they did not need to pay, Cornelius Johnson a notch or two before his time. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Kendall Milton in No. 221 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It fills a real need, too.
