There is reaching, and then there is De'Zhaun Stribling at the 68th pick. The Eagles jumped the board by 43 and dared it to prove them wrong.
Wagner at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They punted on safety, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 23 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare, a steep price for the projection. The biggest hole, addressed.
The board had cheaper options than LT Overton at No. 54, and it noticed. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They reached into another round for De'Zhaun Stribling, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Value said wait; Jaishawn Barham in pick No. 98 says they were not listening. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Darrell Jackson Jr. at the 114th overall pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Charles Demmings in Round 4, Pick 37 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Quintayvious Hutchins in pick No. 153, miles early. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Nate Boerkircher at the 178th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Somehow Aamil Wagner was still sitting there in slot 197, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
